Take a look at this São Paulo apartment, where Arthur Casas used a contemporary modern style to bring out the best of this apartment´s personality.

It all began when an art-collecting couple came up to a Brazilian designer, Arthur Casas, with a project to design their apartment in São Paulo, in a way that reflected their passion for entertaining.
Casas took it upon himself to make this project a reality, choosing to incorporate a contemporary modern style, consisting of a broad use of warm beige throughout the interior of the home, making it blend in subtly, yet also beautifully into São Paulo’s skyline and ambience.
Made with the intent to be used for convivial living, it’s equipped with comfortable furniture and modern decor.

The living room is a great example of everything the apartment is meant to be about.
It’s been engulfed by a warm, beige color palette, making it feel cozy and relaxing, but it is also luxurious and full of personality due to the numerous uses of contemporary modern elements, such as the sculptures, the usage of stone, and other natural materials in the furniture, as well as the usage of minimalist elements.
The view of São Paulo’s skyline is nothing short of breathtaking, making you daydream about spending an afternoon in this living room, reading a book, drinking a cocktail, and occasionally taking a look at the city.

In the adjacent kitchen, contemporary modern techniques are still being used by Casas to give this home the cozy, yet sophisticated look it was meant to have.
In typical minimalist fashion, form meets functionality in the form of this cantilevered metal plank that doubles as an island and as a dining table, being simultaneously paired with a grey color scheme that opposes the overall beige colors that surround this apartment, bringing upon an industrial-chic sensibility to the room.
The minimalist wooden cabinetry discreetly conceals the kitchen appliances, which once again reinforces the apartment’s language of elegant understatement paired with its naturally welcoming feel.

Furthering the idea of the connection between divisions in this home, even the transitional areas in this apartment, such as the corridor, keep up with the same themes we’ve seen throughout the apartment, namely the usage of contemporary modern decor, such as the art pieces that are displayed on the walls, paired with the same beige tones we saw in the living room and kitchen.
It blends beautifully with the living room, and it also leads smoothly into the private quarters, master bedroom, and bathrooms, making the apartment’s divisions feel connected and complementary to one another, which isn’t a very common case in interior design.

As far as contemporary modern rooms go, it can’t really get much more in style than this bedroom is.
It perfectly encapsulates the contemporary modern decor style’s usage of neutral tones, minimalist furniture, and functional pieces that work as decor, such as the lamp that stands above the bedside table.
Another important piece, considering the couple’s interest in collecting art, is the framed picture on the wall, which is yet another detail that Casas included in this bedroom, that he has been consistently including throughout the home, using many different types of art pieces.

A contemporary modern approach was also chosen to decorate the bathroom with beautiful wooden, stone, and steel pieces of furniture and decor, once again mixing in functionality with form and aesthetics.
A painting is placed above the wash basin, as a reminder that art is something present everywhere in this apartment, whether it’s in the form of a painting, a sculpture, or just through the clever mixture of colors and patterns.
The room’s colors are once again neutral, much like in the kitchen, following the contemporary modern philosophy of joining complementary colors to bring out a sophisticated, yet relaxing sense of comfort.

This home cinema area is a great example of how to use contemporary modern decor to blend in comfort with a relaxing, yet sophisticated lifestyle, using the natural characteristics we have discussed throughout this article.
A masterclass in equilibrium, between warmth and restraint, fluidity and structure, and heritage and modernity, the apartment is less a showpiece than a slow-burner; the kind of space that reveals its quiet intricacies over time.
